MPSC Exam Structure and Career.

Minimum qualifications and the age limit:

  • A candidate must be graduate in any discipline from the recognized university in India.
  • He/she must have attained the age of 21 years while appearing for the exam.

MPSC conducts state services examination in three stage format as follows.

This exam is conducted by the MPSC for Gazetteer posts in the Maharashtra Government.

Exam Structure:

Exam is conducted in three tier system.

Prelim 400 Paper I - General Studies (200 marks)

Mains 800 English (100 marks) + Marathi (100 marks) = 200 marks (50 marks for objective and 50 marks for subjective for each) (200 Marks)
45% marks are mandatory.
900 Marks
Total 4 General Studies Papers of 150 marks each. (Multiple Choice Questions Type Objective with 2:1 Negative Marking) = 600 Marks Considered for Rank/Merit

Interview 100 Personality Test of 100 marks Considered for Rank/Merit

Stage 1

  • Deputy District Magistrate
  • It consists of two papers of 200 marks each.
  • It conducted, generally on the first Sunday of the April.
  • It is for qualifying/screening purpose only.

Stage 2:

  • It is known as State Services Main Examination.e
  • It consists of total 6 papers for 800 marks( 4 GS papers ×150 marks + 2 language Papers ×100marks)
  • It is conducted generally, on three consecutive days in the month of August.
  • It is for merit purpose.

Stage 3 :

  • It is known as interview.
  • It is of 100 marks.
  • It for merit purpose.
  • Note ; the final merit is grand total of marks obtained in stage 1 and stage 2.(That is out of 800+ 100=900 marks)

Career after passing state service examination.:

  • Deputy Collector
  • Deputy SP or Dy.SP
  • Tahasildar
  • Assistant sales tax commissioner.
  • Chief officer of municipality
  • Nayab tahsildar
  • And many other group A and Group B Posts.
